Early menopause is defined as the absence of menstruation for six months before the age of 40, along with an increase in blood follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) to 40IU/ml or above.
It's a relatively common disease, occurring in 1% of all women, meaning 1 in every 100 women, and even in 1 in every 1,000 women before the age of 30.
Early menopause can lead to systemic diseases such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases due to early estrogen deficiency, as well as psychological issues due to unexpected infertility.
